st. barth’s - the chicest island in the caribbean
And folks - drum roll please… (da da da da da *snare) we are BACK. And how could I not come back with a destination of interest to - let’s just say it - most of you all. Let’s dive into St. Barth’s - the chicest island in the Caribbean. As someone who just came back from the island - I can attest that this is a true statement. Shall we get into why? Shall we get into the nitty gritty details? Shall we get into the tiny a** plane you can take to get to the island? Let’s do it.

*A reminder for all of my newbies - this is for the Millionless Millennial. All of the below hotels are luxury properties and will cost ya $$ if you wanna stay (ya girl isn’t going to recommend any bad properties). I do have some “Honorable Mentions” and these tend to run higher nightly rates so if you want to splurge - here ya go. Another reminder that rates fluctuate throughout the year. High season in St. Barth’s is November to April (give or take) so always keep that in mind.
GETTING THERE
First things first - let’s get you to the island. Now, if you aren’t coming from the East Coast, it’s not the easiest to get to - but it’s doable. Coming from Dallas, I overnighted on the way there and back in Miami. From there I flew to St. Maarten and then to St. Barth’s. You can also fly through San Juan to get to St. Barth’s as well. The flight time from SXM (St. Maarten) to SBH (St. Barth’s) is about 15 minutes in a small 16 seater plane whereas the flight time from San Juan to SBH is around an hour in a plane that’s a little larger (but not much). You have to keep in mind that St. Barth’s landing strip is quite small so only small planes can land. No typical commercial planes my peeps. You can also take a ferry or a speedboat - but flying is the most typical route. Be prepared for QUITE a landing into SBH (look to your right and you’ll see all of Gustavia appear in front of you)!
ACCOMMODATIONS
Want a super cute, 5-star hotel? HERE IT IS! It is situated in St. Jean’s Bay overlooking the beautiful blue water but note, this hotel is not on the beach. It’s a small hotel with just 23 keys so it feels super intimate. It’s more of the new kid on the block and I’m excited for its future! And y’all know I’m a sucker for decor…. can you even with these rooms?
Another precious, boutique property - Le Toiny is a bit secluded but it does have its own beach club (LET’S GO)! The rooms are light, bright, and airy and really just call you in to relax. Many of the accommodations have their own private pool which screams romanceeeee.
Le Barthelemy is chic and timeless with little Parisian hints here and there. It is in a quiet and discreet location which bodes well for relaxation and serenity. The accommodations are modern yet they do have some Caribbean flavor as you can see in the images to the right. If you want that Instagram shot - perch on their lobby swings and snag that pic b****.
Le Sereno is just a calming property - with the pool you can’t keep your eyes off of to the room decor - you really can’t go wrong. If you know Lake Como, yes, this is the sister property of Il Sereno - one of the icons on the lake in Italy. The rooms are tranquil and well-designed giving you the best place to relax and draw your attention to the crystal clear blue waters in the distance. Wow, that was poetic.
HONORABLE MENTION
Now you know what “Honorable Mention” means. If you have that higher budget - look no further. Personally, I have stayed at Cheval Blanc and it is so romantic, absolutely stunning, and the epitome of luxury. Cheval Blanc is located on Flamands Beach, which makes the hotel feel like it’s on on it’s own and isolated (in the best way possible). Like I said - you want a St. Barth’s honeymoon. Here. You. Go.
HONORABLE MENTION
Eden Rock is iconic with its location right by the airport - you see the flights go in and out each day. Another reason why it is iconic is because it has been the vacation destination of the rich and famous to St. Barth’s since the 1950s. It is casual yet elegant. The beach is fantastic and guess what - you are walking distance from the best beach clubs. That means you can play and relax babyyyy. Plus the decor is funky and fun which you know I love.
DINING & BEACH CLUBS
You know what - if you know me, you know I’m absolutely obsessed with Italian food. If I could eat pasta every day, I would *as she plans to make a pasta dish for dinner. The food and wine was superb. I had some ravioli and - bury me with that dish. It is a very classy vibe and if you want a meal without the fanfare, this is your place!
La Petite Plage is business in the front, party in the back LOL. I’m cracking myself up with that one. I mean - if you sit outside for dinner, you just have a peaceful dinner with great food. If you sit inside, the night will turn and you will be dancing on tables with champagne flowing in the blink of an eye. Catch my drift? Pro tip - the floor of the restaurant is sand so keep that in mind.
Bringing the French Mediterranean cuisine and vibes to the Caribbean are we now? This iconic restaurant is a must visit during your time in St. Barth’s. And much like La Petite Plage - get ready for those club vibes later in the evening *wink wink. It is also a lovely place for lunch!
A favorite amongst many on the island, Bonito offers a French Pan-American cuisine. It has stunning views of Gustavia and the water in the distance. This is another option for a great, elegant dinner sans that party vibe (because some nights, you just need good food right)?
Yes. You read that right. The infamous Nikki Beach. It is a must. On a Sunday. Do it. The food is great. The vibes are immaculate. And you will leave having had way too much rosé. But with no regrets. And yes, I did dance on tables. And yes, the french fries are AMAZE. Where else can you get sushi and french fries yet still be (semi) classy?
Shellona brings together great food, fantastic vibes, and immaculate views. It’s a stones throw away from Hotel Barriere Le Carl Gustaf (honestly another Honorable Mention if I do say so myself). Share some amazing lobster with your friends, have a glass of champagne, and enjoy! Honestly, the decor *chef’s kiss.
SO MILLENNIAL
Head to Eden Rock and take a picture in front of their “Let’s Rock” sign
Dance on a table and snap. that. shot. biotch
Pack a picnic, go for a hike, and find a private beach - then snap that Insta moment

INSIDER TIPS
Villas are a HUGE part of the island. If you have a large group of friends - or even two couples - consider renting a villa for a week. That way, you have a kitchen where you can cook breakfast each day.
Rent a car. Taxis are easy to come by in the summer and fall, but come winter time - it’s madness.
Spend a day on a boat. Enjoy the water.
Go on hikes and enjoy the island.
amalfi coast - best coast
The Amalfi Coast - a destination on many people’s bucket list. I can speak from personal experience that it is an absolutely amazing place. From Capri to Ravello - the Coast is a magical place full of beach clubs, fantastic restaurants, great shopping, and an all around good time. The coast is made up of many different towns and islands. Below, you will find information on Capri along with Positano, and a mention of the other amazing yet smaller towns.
The Amalfi Coast is not a trip that you can really do on a budget - just an FYI - or at least do it the right way! Also, carbs and wine doesn’t count when in Italy. Enjoy all of the food and vino PLEASE.
CAPRI
When you think of Capri - you think of posh. From the iconic beach clubs to absolutely amazing restaurants, the crystal blue water and the quaintness of the town center, Capri is a must for any Amalfi Coast trip. Capri is separated into two areas - Capri and Anacapri. Most of the restaurants, shops, etc. are located in Capri, but if you decide to stay in Anacapri, you can take a car to the outskirts of town and then walk to all of the restaurants. The town center of Capri does not allow any cars - so put your walking shoes on.
ACCOMMODATIONS
With amazing views of the blue ocean, Hotel La Scalinatella is your traditional Italian-coast hotel. The rooms really let the ocean speak for itself. Open your terrace doors and take in the amazing breeze. The location of Hotel La Scalinatella is fantastic - just a short walk from downtown Capri & a hike down the mountain to the famous beach clubs. The entry way is filled with amazing flowers and beautiful greenery. Take a deep breath and just relax!
On one of the further tip of the island - overlooking the beach clubs and fantastic rock formations plummeting out of the water, Punta Tragara is a wonderful 5-star hotel. The style is less traditional and more contemporary with white and hints of beige throughout. While it is a longer walk into town, it is still totally doable and worth the location - duh because of the views.
With such an amazing location, Capri Tiberio Palace is an absolutely fantastic hotel (and one that I have personally stayed at). It is quirky in style - think Jonathan Adler - with a mixture of colors and patterns. The hotel is located close to town - literally less than a 5 minute walk - but the ocean is still in view. Honestly, it’s just fun all around!
HONORABLE MENTION | Capri Palace
Capri Palace is a luxury, 5-star hotel located in Anacapri. The hotel is in a secluded part of the island, away from the hustle and bustle of Capri town. It has a two Michelin-starred restaurant and fantastic spa. The rooms are so serene - white, neutral, & blue - minimal in style and perfect for relaxation!
DINING & BEACH CLUBS
AKA - the lemon restaurant. I think it speaks for itself, no? Enjoy an amazing Italian meal with the night time sea breeze flowing nestled under fantastic lemon trees. Did I already sell you? I thought so.
A Michelin-star restaurant in the middle of the town of Capri. The views are out of this world - and I’m speaking from my firsthand experience. The restaurant focuses on Mediterranean cuisine and offers an authentic culinary + wine experience.
La Fontelina Beach Club & Restaurant
Now talk about ICONIC - if I showed you a picture of blue and white umbrellas on a rock overlooking the ocean, would you be able to tell me where it is? Probably, because La Fontelina is ICONIC (I say it again). Known more for its beach club scene, it is good to keep in mind that it is a restaurant as well. Insider tip - reserve those sun beds + lunch reservations as soon as you can. Trust me!
Da Luigi ai Faraglioni Restaurant & Beach Club
Now not as famous as La Fontelina, but literally just across the rocks - Da Luigi is definitely a place where you want to spend a day drinking a spritz and soaking up the sun. With authentic Mediterranean cuisine, have a lovely lunch and then stay - for hours and hours.
SO MILLENNIAL
La Fontelina blue & white umbrellas
Da Paolino under the lemon trees
Il Riccio for lunch
Boat trip around the island
Blue Grotto
Quisisana patio with an aperol spritz
INSIDER TIPS
How do you get here you ask? The cheaper option is a ferry from Naples - the more expensive option is a private boat transfer from Naples. Either way, you’ll make it Capri in no time!
Caveat here - be careful when booking a hotel in Capri due to the two different regions. You ideally do not want a hotel smack dab in the middle of Anacapri so be sure to look at a map prior to booking. The hotels with the best location, are at a premium, especially during high high season (July and August).
Wanna party? Hit up Anema e Core. Just trust me!
POSITANO
One of the most famous images of the Amalfi Coast - the beautiful multi-colored houses on the cliff overlooking the bright blue sea. Positano is the hub of the Amalfi Coast in my opinion. It is the image that comes to everyone’s minds. The food, the views, the shopping, the hotels, everything is perfect to a “T”. Now… these hotels are expensive - I ain’t gonna put it nicely here, but so worth it!
ACCOMMODATIONS
Located on the main road, you’ll find this charming hotel nestled into the beautiful buildings. Some rooms are white with some pops of color - really letting the outside shine and others have tile floors and are a bit more traditional in style. Really you can’t go wrong with either. Al Palazzo restaurant is a multi-sensory journey literally just steps outside of your room. Take a dip in the pool and take in the Positano view.
Sitting halfway up Positano’s famous cliff, Hotel Poseidon gives you a spectacular view of the town and the sea. The rooms are quirky and a little bohemian but still light and airy. They have a vintage Volkswagen Beetle as their house car - and that is just a perfect touch to use for a last minute day trip throughout the coast.
Moving up the luxury ladder, Villa Treville is a 5-star property in Positano. It is located a bit outside of the main town and one of the biggest perks - drum roll please - a private beach! All rooms are spread throughout 4 villas located on the cliffs overlooking the blue sea. The decor is more traditional Italian but isn’t that part of the charm?!
HONORABLE MENTION | Le Sirenuse
One of the most famous Amalfi Coast hotels - Le Sirenuse - is the token red building nestled in the beautiful Positano cliff line. If you don’t recognize the building, you should recognize the name. Le Sirenuse is so well known and ultra luxurious, not to mention the restaurant is world famous. La Sponda overlooks the most fantastic views of the town with the most mouth-watering food. The rooms at Le Sirenuse are more toned-down than the other hotels - they offer a more subtle color palette with fabric that screams luxury.
DINING
Gosh, the restaurants in Positano are absolutely amazing - from Michelin-starred to mom & pop joints - you can’t go wrong. Not to mention, the food is so fresh… just straight mouth-watering.
Relaxed yet intimate, Chez Black is an ideal restaurant for a romantic dinner or even just a casual lunch. With all kinds of Mediterranean seafood dishes, you will not have a lack of options when deciding what to enjoy - from sea urchins to Paccheri Pasta. The list is endless.
Situated in Le Sirenuse, La Sponda is a MUST. With absolutely stunning views of the sea, enjoy the poolside terrace and stunning food. If the walls could talk - they would talk about all of the famous people that have dined at this restaurant and all of their crazy life stories.
Ristorante Da Adolfo Di Bella Sergio
Take a boat ride (just 5 minutes) from Positano to this world-famous restaurant. There is a boat that leaves to take you to lunch or dinner, so no worries on transportation. Feel free to wear your swimsuit, sit in the sun, and eat some fantastic grilled fish, grilled mozzarella, and mussel soup (just to name a few).
SO MILLENNIAL
Iconic town / hill view
l’Incanto beach lounges
Franco’s Bar
The Delicatessen
Positano by night
INSIDER TIPS
Positano is on the mainland, so you would fly into Naples where you can then take a taxi / car service or rent a car but note, the roads are winding!
Don’t schedule yourself too much here. Dinners are must for reservations during high season, but give yourself time to explore the town at your leisure.
There are also amazing towns nearby - Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, etc. - which I HIGHLY suggest you take a day trip and explore!
WANT SOME MORE INSPIRATION?
While Capri and Positano are the most popular locations on the coast, there are amazing additional areas to explore. As I stated above, Amalfi, Ravello, and Salerno are fantastic. To be honest, Ravello is my ABSOLUTE favorite spot - however, it is much more quiet, low key, and feels a little bit more authentic. If you want another island to consider, Ischia is fantastic.
There are some restaurants that are not “technically” located in Positano that I would highly suggest. This section is just to name a few other properties and restaurants that are 100% on my “must stay” or “must dine at” list. Enjoy!
ACCOMMODATIONS
Palazzo Avino | Ravello
This is the hotel that I would live in. This is the hotel that I would dream about being married at. It’s a family-owned property in the heart of Ravello (which is higher up on the cliffs - so not on the water) but still offering absolutely stunning views. Now, it’s definitely a higher price point - 5+ star but worth considering. There are two different style of rooms - traditional and very modern - so pick your choice and enjoy. While not on the water, they do have a beach club that is accessible via their shuttle that runs throughout the day.
Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa | Ischia
Ischia is typically not as crowded as say Capri, but it still offers the amazing island vibes that you are craving. Look out over the sea in their stunning rooms, boasting white with blue accents. Enjoy their thermal pools, their clay tennis court, and seawater pool. There isn’t the beach club influencer vibes like Capri, but sometimes you want to get away from that, amirite?
DINING
Accessible via boat, enjoy this absolutely fantastic restaurant (trust me, I can say this from experience). It is situated on the water with stunning views, enjoy their famous salt-encrusted fish. When I was there, it was zucchini season and DAMN, zucchini pasta, stuffed zucchini, etc. Mouth-watering if I do say so myself.
The “restaurant on the sea”. It offers the best and freshest products cooked with simplicity and love. It’s authentic, down-to-earth, and absolutely a must.
TRAVEL TIPS
Eat the extra piece of bread - just do it
Taxis cannot go into the main town of Capri so put on your walking shoes
Fly into Naples and either take a boat to the islands or drive to the mainland towns
You need euros - some restaurants are cash only
Pack a light jacket for the evenings
Season is May until October - most places do close during off-season
mykonos - island vibes
With Greece already announcing its opening to American tourist (vaccinated, of course), Mykonos is going to be hotter than ever this year. Now we don’t know what the beach clubs and restaurants will look like, but in true Greek fashion, I’m sure they will be amazing and better than ever. Let the beach partying begin!

Now we don’t know what the beach clubs and restaurants will look like, but in true Greek fashion, I’m sure they will be amazing and better than ever. Let the beach partying begin!
Grab your most fashionable swimsuit, bottle of sunscreen, and be prepared to sip on some great cocktails overlooking the blue sea.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Mykonos hotels are all a bit different and usually quite boutique. Great for couples getaways, friend trips, solo travel, or whatever you fancy - you can find the perfect hotel for the trip of your dreams.
KIVOTOS MYKONOS
NEW NEW NEW! Situated right on the the beachfront of Kivotos, it overlooks it’s own private beach. It is built along the rocks with stunning architecture and interior design elements. The rooms are simple in design, really letting the beautiful blue water act as the main focal piece. The pool has a swim-up bar and the spa offers daily yoga classes. The hotel really feels like a Greek family home. In my opinion - it is a total millennial hotel.
KATIKIES MYKONOS
Katikies captures the essence of seaside living on the beach of Agios Ioannis. It is built similar to an amphitheater with direct sea views. The decor is lovely, airy, and refreshing. Pulling in the blue and white vibes typical to Greece, this hotel is elegant yet understated. Many suites have their own plunge pools - talk about romance.
MYKONOS BLU GRECOTEL BOUTIQUE RESORT
Set on a low bluff overlooking the gold-tinged sand of the world-famous beach at Psarou, this exceptional resort is perfectly poised between the island’s two worlds – secluded, yet close enough to town for you to join the party when the urge strikes. The beach is a major selling point here - with an amazing beach club just right down from the hotel.
SANTA MARINA, A LUXURY COLLECTION RESORT
Santa Marina is more of a resort-style property - meaning larger and more space. With a long private stretch of beach, the hotel overlooks the sea with almost unobstructed views. The decor of this hotel is quite different than the previous; with more natural tones - beige, wood, black - the hotel is warm and inviting. Many of the suites and villas have lush, private gardens and courtyards with small pools as well. You don’t even need to leave your accommodation!
BELVEDERE HOTEL
Belvedere is situated in a premium location in the town of Mykonos Island. With its bougainvillea-covered courtyard and hilltop position overlooking the Aegean, Belvedere Hotel resembles a picture postcard. Not to mention that Nobu Matsuhisa has a restaurant on property and the spa is a Six Senses Spa - ah-mazing. The hotel feels authentic but with contemporary twists. The blue shutters are so quaint and the rooms are absolutely lovely.
DINING
Dining may look a bit different this summer - but you honestly can’t go wrong with some Greek food, now amirite? The below restaurants are just a few of the MANY amazing places on Mykonos island. Please note that these restaurants openings are subject to change.
INTERNI
Interni is your classic Mediterranean cuisine - using flavors from around the world to create amazing gastronomical experiences. The wine list has a wide range of options - encompassing all 5 continents. It is definitely a must for your time in Mykonos. And the restaurant aesthetic - just YAS.
REMEZZO
Established in 1967, the legendary bar Remezzo, world-known for its music and parties, became the meeting point of international jet setters for the decades to follow. This restaurant is fine dining with a view. The bartenders can literally create whatever your heart desires as well. Talk about good food and fun vibes.
NIKOLAS TAVERNA
Run by the same family for three generations, Nikolas is as local as it gets on Mykonos. The veggies come from the family farm, one grandson catches the fish daily, and the tables are on the Anna Agia beach. The food is as fresh as it gets - mouth-wateringly good.
BUDDHA-BAR BEACH
Located within the Santa Marina hotel, this is definitely a Mykonos hotspot. Discover exceptional fusion cuisine with a Mediterranean and Greek twist, alongside celebrated Buddha-Bar specialities. The atmosphere evolves during the course of the day, but it’s at sunset that the scene truly comes alive.
BEACH CLUB VIBIN’
You can’t talk about Mykonos without talking about the amazing beach clubs - with parties happening all day, every day. World-known DJs come to Mykonos to party with the vacationers and locals. Grab a drink, relax on a sunbed, and party the day away.
SCORPIOS
One of the most well-known beach clubs in Mykonos, Scorpios rivals beach clubs in St. Tropez, Ibiza, and St. Barth’s. It has complete bohemian vibes. A mix of Burning Man and DJ-curated beach club, look for their incredible sunset parties each day throughout summer that lures the best music talent on the island.
NAMMOS
Sun beds, beach bars, beautiful people, good drinks - what more could you ask for? It's the trendiest beach restaurant in Mykonos, located down a windy and dusty road on the edge of popular Psarou Beach. The restaurant is divided between a formal dining area, lounge with bar, and beach club. The beach has gone through a complete renovation and is better than ever. Reminiscent of the beach clubs on Capri - close your eyes and let the beach vibes take you away.
JACKIEO' BEACH CLUB
‘From sunset to sunrise in style‘ is the motto. JackieO’s is a complete vibe. “Quiet but lively. Solitary but friendly. Which has the taste of the Cyclades but the flavours of East and West. Which loves the morning, but falls in love with the evening. Known but Unknown. For now and forever.”
GET EXPLORIN’
The ocean views really are the focal point for your trip to Mykonos - or any Greek island for that matter - but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to explore while on island. I have included just a few below to spark some ideas!
Mykonos Windmills
Aegean Maritime Museum
Church of Paraportiani
There are some additional islands nearby that are more “off-the-beaten-path” such as - Paros, Naxos, & Tinos. Take a boat out on the open ocean and explore some more islands.

miami - the hottest city
Miami - it the hottest city in the US right now - not just the heat index but the popularity. The pandemic has brought a lot of amazing restaurants to Miami. As one of the only cities in the continental US with Caribbean-like beaches, European-centric beach club parties, and so much more, you really can feel like you are in St. Tropez, the Amalfi Coast, St. Barth’s, and different amazing places throughout the world. As a year round destination, Miami should be on your “get there” list for this year!

As a year round destination, Miami should be on your “get there” list for this year!
Below, I have included a short list of my faves - Millionless Millennial budget faves, of course. But keep in mind, popularity ramps up the hotel room prices, flight fares, etc. The restaurants are extremely crowded these days as well. So, with all of that being said, if you plan to go to Miami - plan in advance!
ACCOMMODATIONS
Miami is made up of a lot of different neighborhoods, much like any other major city. From Miami Beach to South Beach, from Brickell to Wynwood, you can find your “Miami home”. There is so much variety with decor, location, vibe, etc. Now don’t get me wrong, Miami has a TON of amazing properties. This is just a short list to inspire you to escape to the sun and sea!
With a great location - in the heart of Millionaire’s Row - Fontainebleau is an iconic hotel in Miami. The decor is simple and elegant - letting the breathtaking views speak for themselves. From LIV to Scarpetta, the hotel is not lacking in entertainment, food options, and just plain fun.
This is the perfect hotel for any Miami getaway, from bachelor / bachelorette parties to couples getaways, there is always something going on & the beach is just a few steps away.
With a more under the radar vibe, The Betsy is not a place that should be overlooked. In a plantation-style building, the hotel rooms are contemporary yet still classic. I personally love the style of the rooms with small pops of pattern or color throughout and unique knick knacks giving the room or suite a lot of character. Lounge at the rooftop pool with a glass of rosé - dang doesn’t sound like the life?
Now you may recognize this name - with Faena Miami Beach being one of the top luxury hotels in Miami. Casa Faena is its sister property with a more boutique style. It is a Spanish style inn situated in the Faena district with Mediterranean influences. While still ornate, the hotel rooms feel residential and homey. You’ll feel like you stepped back in time to the early 1900s with this hotel’s elegance.
Another recognizable name here, and yes, this hotel is associated with the well-known Nobu restaurants. The Japanese-inspired architecture and it’s prime oceanfront location really make it a dreamy Japanese beach house. The rooms are zen and most have panoramic views of the beautiful ocean. And the pool - just take a look at it because it speaks for itself.
And of course, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s world-famous cuisine can be enjoyed on property. Enjoy some amazing sushi with stunning views.
HONORABLE MENTION - THE MIAMI BEACH EDITION
You can smell the signature scent wafting through the air as you approach The Miami Beach Edition (also my favorite hotel scent in case you were wondering). It is an urban resort with amazing hotel rooms and suites, a Jean-Georges restaurant, and much more. But remember, this is an honorable mention so your budget will need to be a bit higher.
Pro tip - the bungalow building is a fave.
DINING
You will not be at a loss of places to go for all meals, especially now. As NYC slowly starts to re-open, Miami has seen a lot of restaurants in the NY dining scene move down to call Miami home as well.
From the famous Italian restaurant Carbone to the Miami staple Joe’s Stone Crab, Miami’s dining scene is HOT HOT HOT. And with it being so popular, reservations are hard to come by.
The second location of one of New York’s most popular restaurants, Carbone has seen a ton of popularity this winter. The New York Times probably put it best: “It is a fancy red-sauce joint as directed by Quentin Tarantino, bringing back the punch-in-the-guts thrills of a genre that everybody else sees as uncultured and a little embarrassing, while exposing the sophistication that was always lurking there. The restaurant has a technical prowess that can make you giddy and an instinct for sheer entertainment that makes a lot of other restaurants seem like earnest, unimaginative drones.” And if you get a table, do NOT forget to order the spicy rigatoni - life changing.
Joe’s Stone Crab is a MUST in Miami. It has been around for over 100 years and is simply iconic. And what do you order at Joe’s Stone Crab you may ask? Well, stone crab - duh! You will leave full and happy.
Care to venture a little further North? It’ll be worth the trip. The Surf Club Restaurant by Chef Thomas Keller is within one of my all time favorite Miami hotels - well really Surfside hotels - the Four Seasons at the Surf Club. Chef Keller honors the location’s history of good times and grand parties through a classic Continental cuisine, perfectly interpreted for today's contemporary guests to enjoy the Surfside beach view. And yes, this is the same Chef Keller as The French Laundry in Napa.
Did someone say great Italian food al fresco? Sign me up. This South of 5th restaurant is great for any occasion. If y’all can’t tell, Italian food is my favorite so… skewing my recommendations a bit. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere, you can’t go wrong.
Check out the new sushi restaurant, Hiyakwa, in Wynnwood. Hiyakawa is a contemporary Japanese restaurant rooted in tradition that blends an unwavering dedication to craft with a devotion to the world’s finest ingredients to present an experience like no other. I mean just the interior design - swoon.

Disclaimer - these hotels WILL be more expensive as New Years Eve and the days before and after are high season. These aren’t just your normal NYE travel recommendations, these are bucket list destinations. Keep that in mind and be prepared to have a hefty budget if you want to do one of these trips the right way!
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
Summertime baby! Who doesn’t love escaping the winter and going down South - way down to the other side of the world - to ring in the new year. Sydney is known for its New Years Eve celebrations. Experiencing fireworks over the Sydney Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House - talk about a bucket list moment. Whether you are at a restaurant, hotel, or on a boat on the harbor, the views are unbelievable.
And for New Years Day, hit the beaches. It is the thing to do.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The hidden gem. The views range from the beautiful city center of Sydney or the expansive Sydney Harbor. The rooms are light and airy with a lot of natural light and pops of color. You are walking distance from most of the iconic attractions in Sydney. The Langham is a fantastic option, if you are open to spending a bit more $ on NYE.
Now views may not be the major selling point here (unless you wanna ball out on the Penthouse), but the Establishment Hotel does offer a lot. It is a small, 31 room boutique hotel which automatically allows it to have character. The rooms are mainly Japanese in style - mixing darker tones with soothing colors. The hotel also offers a lot of dining outlets, from eating in a garden to drinking in an opulent bar.
I categorize this hotel as a definite millennial fave. Enjoy the infinity pool that offers a beach club-like atmosphere. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views. The design is more minimal, letting the views really speak for themselves.
HONORABLE MENTION - PARK HYATT SYDNEY
I’m going to start doing these - hotels that will be out of budget but just to give you some inspo (AKA let me drool over some of my hotel faves). You know, put it on your story board or manifest that shit into the universe. The Park Hyatt Sydney is that property in Sydney! Iconic.

RIO DE JANIERO, BRAZIL
Talk about a party - I mean before COVID, but I hope that the parties continue once the world is safe. Over 2 million people usually join the most epic beach party dressed in all white to party into the new year. Your new years resolutions are sent out into the vast ocean on little rafts while live music blares. Join the party at Copacabana Beach and dance the night away!
ACCOMMODATIONS
A historical landmark. Situated on Copacabana Beach, the Belmond is in the most ideal location. The large art deco building overlooks the beaches and greatest landmarks. The rooms are decorated in period furniture and are classical with a hint of a beachy vibe. Don’t miss the Michelin-starred restaurant (and sit at the Chef’s Table if you can get it).
Now this is my kind of hotel. Floor-to-ceiling windows, woven textures and wooden accents, mod-style rooms - this hotel is natural. It’s one where you don’t feel intimidated when you walk into it - it’s not “grande” in design, but the small accents are definitely luxurious. Check out the infinity pool that overlooks the ocean - have a drink and take an Instagram shot. You’re bound to rack up on those likes!
The Grand Hyatt may not be as “grande” (no pun intended) as the Belmond or as airy as the Emiliano, but it definitely worth mentioning. It’s more of an urban resort with expansive grounds within the city. The rooms are basic in design, but really let the outside landscape speak for itself. But the pool though, that’s where you would find me lathered in sunscreen all day long - with a glass of rosé in my hand of course.
HONORABLE MENTION - FASANO RIO DE JANEIRO
This hotel will be out of budget for a lot of people, but all good hotels are worth mentioning. Fasano is an AMAZING hotel brand in South America. It’s definitely worth checking out, even to just dream about a stay!
SO MILLENNIAL
Rio is full of “must see” sights. It is also full of small murals and amazing food. Really any moment is instagrammable.

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
Let’s move to some cold weather why don’t we. Now this isn’t a destination that comes to mind initially when thinking about New Years Eve, but consider it. Edinburgh usually has an epic 3-day farewell celebration to the year. I’m talking street parties, fireworks, folk music - definitely a cultural change but you will enjoy it. Plus the Scottish can drink! Try to keep up, if you can.
ACCOMMODATIONS
KIMPTON CHARLOTTE SQUARE HOTEL
Nestled in a picturesque private garden, the Kimpton hotel mixes the classical design and architecture of the building with the funky design within the hotel. Imagine a castle with Jonathan Adler-esque interiors (perhaps a little more subtle). It’s fun, it’s luxurious, and it’s a great place to celebrate a new year.
Now this is a Rocco Forte Hotel and if you aren’t familiar with the luxury hotel world - this is a GOOD thing! It will really make you feel like you are in Scotland; it’s classic and legendary. Grande in it’s design and central to any pubs, shops, or sights you want to see. This hotel differs greatly from the Kimpton just due to its classic Scottish vibes.

PARIS, FRANCE
The City of Lights - what is better for ringing in a New Year than champagne at night and a croissant in the morning. Wait - wait, a kiss underneath the Eiffel Tower at midnight would be a little bit better (or A LOT better). Spend the last few days of the year strolling the Marais, shopping in the boutiques, taking a boat on the Seine River, and much more. Party into the New Year with the Parisians - don’t forget to bring your most high fashion attire - to fit in of course.
Now in regards to accommodations in Paris, there are A TON of 5-star hotels. All of the below are more boutique properties except the “Honorable Mention” which is $$$. I could go on and on and on and on … about Parisian hotels. #swoon
ACCOMMODATIONS
Elegance meets comfort. This hotel is meant to be like your own private residence - lounge in the library, stroll the streets of the Left Bank, and just enjoy. The decor is not “stuffy” like many Parisian hotels. They use more neutral colors and let the natural light soak into every corner of each room and suite.
PRINCE DE GALLES, A LUXURY COLLECTION HOTEL
Location, location, location. Situated on the prestigious Avenue George V, Prince de Galles is in a prime location, just steps away from the Champs-Elysées. A bit more masculine in style, the rooms mix traditional and contemporary. The views though - wow. If you are lucky enough to have a suite with outdoor space, soak up the terrace and the city swirling around you.
The design highlights the chic and eclectic style of the French designer Didier Gomez. Enjoy the elements of fashion during your stay. This hotel is posh, chic, high fashion *cue a thesaurus for more synonyms. Don’t be scared by a little color within the hotel! Take a step outside and check out the neighborhoods hot spots.
HONORABLE MENTION - LA RESERVE PARIS
Romantic, luxurious, stunning, and any other positive adjective could be used to describe La Reserve Paris. Now, this is an expensive hotel. But the amenities, the design, the staff, etc. are all worth it. If you can splurge, you won’t regret it.

Checkout my top 5 mini-vacation destinations within the southern region. All are perfect for a couples getaway, friends bash, or solo traveling (which if you haven’t tried before, I would suggest - growing experience).

AUSTIN, TEXAS
Keep Austin weird, amirite? Eat your weight in BBQ, enjoy the lake, dance the night away, and strike a pose in your cowboy hat. Austin is such a fun city full of life and intrigue.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Fun patterns, interesting textures - this hotel is perfectly set in the Second Street District. Try out this lifestyle hotel with a fun bar and vibey pool. If you are a luxury hotel lover like me, think Firmdale Hotel Group, but at a lower budget.
If you haven’t been to Austin, South Congress is the place to be. Filled with amazing restaurants, shops, & instagrammable moments, this is the place to be. The lobby bar reminds me of a 1 Hotel with its repurposed wood and natural colors. The rooms are more industrial in style.
HOTEL VAN ZANDT, A KIMPTON HOTEL
Located in the Rainey District, Hotel Van Zandt is a fantastic place to stay in Austin. And talk about amazing views of the city! The rooms are a bit masculine in feel but beautifully designed and the pool deck will blow your mind.

2. CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
Enjoy the Southern food, fresh sea breeze, and beautiful architecture in Charleston. From historical tours to eating your way through the city, there is so much to do in this amazing lil’ Southern oasis.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Talk about quaint. Zero George just screams “southern comfort" with its light and airy guest rooms. The property is full of history and makes you feel at home. And their amazing restaurant is just steps away from your room - just the cherry on top!
On the corner of Market & Meeting Street, you are in the best location. As a Relais & Chateaux property, the food is divine at Peninsula Grill. The decor at Planters Inn is a more contemporary Southern design - some dark wood and some floral window treatments. Your grandma’s home - but in the 21st century.
This hotel is more contemporary in style with deeper velvet accents and wonderful tall windows. Enjoy the rooftop cocktail lounge - fun fact - which is the highest rooftop in Charleston. The Dewberry is both luxurious and welcoming.

The Drayton Hotel is housed in a 19th-century building in a historic neighborhood. The rooftop offers unparalleled views and the rooms are more minimal in style with masculine colors. The lobby offers colorful couches perfect for sitting back and relaxing.

If you wanna have a fun time - eat, drink, listen to country music - Nashville is the place for you. Head to Broadway to stroll the streets full of bars owned by all of your favorite country singers. Go to East Nashville for some good grub. 12th South has some cute little shops - including Reese Witherspoon’s store Draper James. Don’t worry, you are bound to have fun in Nashvegas - and maybe end up a bit hungover.
ACCOMMODATIONS
One of my favorite boutique hotels in Nashville, the Thompson is located in The Gulch. A neighborhood that stands in between 12th South and Downtown Nashville. It is full of cute shops, good restaurants, and much more. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and are minimal in design. The lobby is welcoming - sit back, relax, and enjoy the hotel.
Noelle, a boutique hotel located in Downtown Nashville, lets you experience the energy that Broadway has to offer. Just a few blocks from the madness, enjoy this hotel with its amazing rooftop bar, art-driven rooms, and cozy common areas.
Another boutique hotel in Downton Nashville, the Bobby Hotel is definitely eclectic. During the holidays, they have igloos on their roof - so enjoy some hot toddy’s and take in the views of downtown. The rooms are funky and have a musical theme with muted grays and pops of orange throughout.

The Ace Hotel is located in the Warehouse District - just a few minutes away from the French Quarter. The rooms are a bit masculine in decor with dark colors and leather, but still very homey. The lobby reminds me of a gentleman’s library - full of leather couches, photos lining the walls, and low lit lamps.
Loft 523 offers loft-style rooms with minimalist decor. It is only steps away from Bourbon Street located in the Central Business District.
Southern charm meets luxury. “Maison de la Luz is a lighthouse for the senses, reverent of elegance, irreverent of convention and is marked by generosity of spirit.” The lobby itself is inviting and quite grand if I do say so myself.

tulum - so boho-chic
Tulum, a bohemian hippie's dream. From the dreamy hanging couches to the treehouses that fit into the surroundings, Tulum is a place for relaxation, mindfulness, and exquisite culinary indulgence.
Tulum, a bohemian hippie's dream. From the dreamy hanging couches to the treehouses that fit into the surroundings, Tulum is a place for relaxation, mindfulness, and exquisite culinary indulgence.
When I was thinking about where I wanted my first feature destination to be, I definitely wanted to share a location that we, as Americans, can currently travel to. Secondly, I wanted to focus on somewhere that offered fun vibes, unique accommodations, and a connection with nature through wellness. Let’s be honest, we all need some mindfulness and wellness after all of this quarantining.
Tulum is a unique destination - just a short drive from Cancún, located on the Yucatan peninsula - it is home to famous cenotes, white sandy beaches, and bright blue water.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Tulum is an amazing destination for boutique hotels. Most are 4 star and offer unique hotel rooms and suites. Included below are a few of my favorites - their rates are usually around $300 to $500 depending on the accommodation and time of year. A rule of thumb - if you are DEAD SET on going somewhere without any hesitation of change, book that non-refundable rate as it’s usually at a great discount.
CASA MALCA
Casa Malca’s experience is more than getting away, it’s about connecting with yourself and the wild. It is a 71 room / suite hotel with an eclectic mixture of accommodations - including their Laberinth Suite (this most likely would be more than $500 a night but hey, if you’re feeling like a baller).
NÔMADE TULUM
Surrounded by tropical forest on a Tulum beach along the Caribbean Sea, this chic resort is 126 km from Cancún International Airport. Nômade is owned by the same company as Be Tulum, a 5-star hotel in Tulum. Nômade Hotel is the definition of boho-chic.
For a special stay, check out their treehouse accommodations that soar high into the Tulum sky.
HABITAS TULUM
Habitas is designed to coexist with nature. The Jungle Rooms have palapa roofs, the Ocean Rooms have canvas walls, and the Pool Rooms, well, have a pool. I mean, unique right?
And another notable mention is the restaurant - Moro. Chef Horacio Dardano has brought Mediterranean flavors over to the coast of Mexico.
HOTEL SANARÁ TULUM
Sanará means “you will heal”. It is an absolutely wonderful 17-room property that is eco-focused.
They offer an oceanfront studio that can be used for yoga sessions along with a health-conscious restaurant concept.
PAPAYA PLAYA PROJECT
Papaya Playa Project is a Design Hotel that is sustainable with a laid-back atmosphere. Hit the beach with the top DJs and party all day.
The hotel is also located on nearly 900-meters of pristine beach making it quite exclusive.
DINING
Dining in Tulum is such a unique experience with so many wonderful options - from the difficult reservation at Hartwood to Beefbar at Hotel Esencia - you will not be disappointed. Below are just a few notable restaurants. I’m not saying these are easy to get into, but dang would it be worth it if you could get a reservation.
