mykonos - island vibes

photo-1495136568018-11a54caad6b5.jpeg

With Greece already announcing its opening to American tourist (vaccinated, of course), Mykonos is going to be hotter than ever this year. Now we don’t know what the beach clubs and restaurants will look like, but in true Greek fashion, I’m sure they will be amazing and better than ever. Let the beach partying begin!

Grab your most fashionable swimsuit, bottle of sunscreen, and be prepared to sip on some great cocktails overlooking the blue sea.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Mykonos hotels are all a bit different and usually quite boutique. Great for couples getaways, friend trips, solo travel, or whatever you fancy - you can find the perfect hotel for the trip of your dreams.

KIVOTOS MYKONOS

NEW NEW NEW! Situated right on the the beachfront of Kivotos, it overlooks it’s own private beach. It is built along the rocks with stunning architecture and interior design elements. The rooms are simple in design, really letting the beautiful blue water act as the main focal piece. The pool has a swim-up bar and the spa offers daily yoga classes. The hotel really feels like a Greek family home. In my opinion - it is a total millennial hotel.

KATIKIES MYKONOS

Katikies captures the essence of seaside living on the beach of Agios Ioannis. It is built similar to an amphitheater with direct sea views. The decor is lovely, airy, and refreshing. Pulling in the blue and white vibes typical to Greece, this hotel is elegant yet understated. Many suites have their own plunge pools - talk about romance.

MYKONOS BLU GRECOTEL BOUTIQUE RESORT

Set on a low bluff overlooking the gold-tinged sand of the world-famous beach at Psarou, this exceptional resort is perfectly poised between the island’s two worlds – secluded, yet close enough to town for you to join the party when the urge strikes. The beach is a major selling point here - with an amazing beach club just right down from the hotel.

SANTA MARINA, A LUXURY COLLECTION RESORT

Santa Marina is more of a resort-style property - meaning larger and more space. With a long private stretch of beach, the hotel overlooks the sea with almost unobstructed views. The decor of this hotel is quite different than the previous; with more natural tones - beige, wood, black - the hotel is warm and inviting. Many of the suites and villas have lush, private gardens and courtyards with small pools as well. You don’t even need to leave your accommodation!

BELVEDERE HOTEL

Belvedere is situated in a premium location in the town of Mykonos Island. With its bougainvillea-covered courtyard and hilltop position overlooking the Aegean, Belvedere Hotel resembles a picture postcard. Not to mention that Nobu Matsuhisa has a restaurant on property and the spa is a Six Senses Spa - ah-mazing. The hotel feels authentic but with contemporary twists. The blue shutters are so quaint and the rooms are absolutely lovely.

DINING

Dining may look a bit different this summer - but you honestly can’t go wrong with some Greek food, now amirite? The below restaurants are just a few of the MANY amazing places on Mykonos island. Please note that these restaurants openings are subject to change.

INTERNI

Interni is your classic Mediterranean cuisine - using flavors from around the world to create amazing gastronomical experiences. The wine list has a wide range of options - encompassing all 5 continents. It is definitely a must for your time in Mykonos. And the restaurant aesthetic - just YAS.

REMEZZO

Established in 1967, the legendary bar Remezzo, world-known for its music and parties, became the meeting point of international jet setters for the decades to follow. This restaurant is fine dining with a view. The bartenders can literally create whatever your heart desires as well. Talk about good food and fun vibes.

NIKOLAS TAVERNA

Run by the same family for three generations, Nikolas is as local as it gets on Mykonos. The veggies come from the family farm, one grandson catches the fish daily, and the tables are on the Anna Agia beach. The food is as fresh as it gets - mouth-wateringly good.

BUDDHA-BAR BEACH

Located within the Santa Marina hotel, this is definitely a Mykonos hotspot. Discover exceptional fusion cuisine with a Mediterranean and Greek twist, alongside celebrated Buddha-Bar specialities. The atmosphere evolves during the course of the day, but it’s at sunset that the scene truly comes alive.

BEACH CLUB VIBIN’

You can’t talk about Mykonos without talking about the amazing beach clubs - with parties happening all day, every day. World-known DJs come to Mykonos to party with the vacationers and locals. Grab a drink, relax on a sunbed, and party the day away.

SCORPIOS

One of the most well-known beach clubs in Mykonos, Scorpios rivals beach clubs in St. Tropez, Ibiza, and St. Barth’s. It has complete bohemian vibes. A mix of Burning Man and DJ-curated beach club, look for their incredible sunset parties each day throughout summer that lures the best music talent on the island.

NAMMOS

Sun beds, beach bars, beautiful people, good drinks - what more could you ask for? It's the trendiest beach restaurant in Mykonos, located down a windy and dusty road on the edge of popular Psarou Beach. The restaurant is divided between a formal dining area, lounge with bar, and beach club. The beach has gone through a complete renovation and is better than ever. Reminiscent of the beach clubs on Capri - close your eyes and let the beach vibes take you away.

JACKIEO' BEACH CLUB

‘From sunset to sunrise in style‘ is the motto. JackieO’s is a complete vibe. “Quiet but lively. Solitary but friendly. Which has the taste of the Cyclades but the flavours of East and West. Which loves the morning, but falls in love with the evening. Known but Unknown. For now and forever.”

GET EXPLORIN’

The ocean views really are the focal point for your trip to Mykonos - or any Greek island for that matter - but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to explore while on island. I have included just a few below to spark some ideas!

  • Mykonos Windmills

  • Aegean Maritime Museum

  • Church of Paraportiani

  • There are some additional islands nearby that are more “off-the-beaten-path” such as - Paros, Naxos, & Tinos. Take a boat out on the open ocean and explore some more islands.
